Impact of Transportation Electrification on the Electricity Grid—A Review

Transportation electrification is a pivotal factor in accelerating the transition to sustainable energy. Electric vehicles (EVs) can operate either as loads or distributed power resources vehicle-to-grid (V2G) vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) linkage. This paper reviews status quo and implications of transportation regard environmental benefits, consumer side impacts, battery technologies, sustainability batteries, technology trends, utility self-driving socio-economic benefits. These are crucial subject matters that have not received appropriate research focus relevant literature this review aims explore them. Our findings suggest transitioning toward cleaner sources electricity generation should be considered along with electrification. In addition, lower cost EV ownership correlated higher adoption increased social justice. It also found EVs suffer from mile-per-hour charging rate than conventional vehicles, which an open technological challenge. Literature indicates electric vehicle penetration will affect grid short term but management required for long-term scenario. The bi-directional flow V2G linkage enhances efficiency, security, reliability, scalability, grid. Vehicle-to-Vehicle charging/discharging has been effective offload distribution system presence high loads.
